Malerei mit elektronischen Kompositionen von Caroline Cheyne
_
An exhibition of paintings derived from Ovid’s Metamorphoses with an electronic musical response.
Matthew Cheyne is an Australian oil painter living in Berlin. In his work, he interprets themes and characters from classical literature.
Sleep, Rumour and Vice is drawn from Ovid’s work, the Metamorphoses. Cheyne re-analyses, twists and reinvents the ostensibly time worn characters to create recognisable contemporary archetypes.
In addition, a series of linoleum cuts will be on display.
To accompany the paintings, Caroline Cheyne has created a series of electronic musical works. The evolving compositions reflect the sleep cycle and the chaotic paths of rumour and vice.
